Veterinarian/Clinic Owner

A 2005 graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and the owner of West Branch Animal Clinic, Dr. Shawn Samuelson started his career with a one-year internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK. He is a mixed animal veterinarian with emphasis on equine lameness, general health and dentistry, and small and large animal preventive medicine and wellness.

Outside his duties at the clinic, Dr. Samuelson enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, horses, competing in calf roping and team roping, and watching his children compete, too.

Lizzy Breuer, DVM

Veterinarian

After earning her DVM degree from the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020, Dr. Lizzy Breuer immediately joined West Branch Animal Clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic. A farm girl, she grew up on a small cow/calf operation near Waterloo, IA.

Dr. Breuer enjoys working with small and large animals. When she has free time, she indulges in skiing, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her husband, family, dogs, goats, cats, turtle, and a pig named Vern.

RJ

The Office Cat

Meet RJ, the beloved office cat at West Branch Animal Clinic! RJ is the sweetest cat you'll ever meet, known for his playful spirit and love for mingling with the dogs who come in for their appointments.

When he's not wandering around the clinic, you'll find RJ joyfully splashing around in his water bowl—unlike most cats, he can't get enough of his watery playtime. Come visit us and say hello to RJ!
